Health Services Provider – Psychologist

I moved to the Wilmington area in the summer of 2017 to start a private practice. Prior to starting my practice, I was on staff at Appalachian State University as a psychologist working with the student population. I enjoyed my work at the university, but I love the coast, so I decided to make the move to Wilmington with my family. When I am not at work, I am a foster parent, an avid reader, and I have two very spoiled dogs who are beloved members of my family.
I work from an interpersonal process approach in therapy, which means that I believe that our relationships, past and present, have a significant impact on how we function in the world. I place a high value on the relationships that I build with my clients because I believe that the therapeutic space needs to feel safe so that people can feel able to be vulnerable. I also incorporate techniques from other therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral and mindfulness. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to come alongside folks on their journey. I have specific expertise in working with individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals experiencing grief and loss. Some of my other interests and areas of specialty are listed below; however, this is not an exhaustive list. I currently take Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Magellan, and private pay. I am always working to join more insurance networks, so please call if you have a plan outside of those listed.
Adolescents, Adjustment disorders, Adults, Anxiety/Phobias, Bipolar disorder, Depression, Dual diagnosis, Families, Gay – lesbian issues, Geriatric, Groups, Parenting, PTSD/Trauma, Relationships/Couples, Sexual abuse, Stress management, Women’s issues.
